[Laszlo-user] Does updateData() work for attributes?

Say I have:
<attribute name="myattr" value="$path{'@somedata'}" type="number" />

and at some stage, something like this happens:
this.setAttribute('myattr', 42);
datapath.updateData();

will it pull the new value from the attribute and copy it back to the 
datapath? If not, is there a way to make it do that, or must it be done 
programmatically?
