I think you might want to use LzHTTPDataRequest. See the  
documentation at
http://labs.openlaszlo.org/trunk-nightly/docs/reference/ 
LzHTTPDataRequest.html

This new stuff is not well documented (yet), but Henry knows it very  
well.
