You can download the servlet-only version of lps, and then just do  
the standard edit-code-in-an-editor thing. We've got rng's and dtd's,  
so pretty much any xml-aware editor will be your friend. Combine that  
with a screen-measuring tool and a fast machine, and you've got a  
fast edit-compile-run loop.

One of us has been happy using Eclipse to edit lzx, but without using  
the IDE4Laszlo. Most of us here at Laszlo Systems use vim, emacs, or  
BBEdit.

So my question is really, what is your goal in downloading the IDE?  
It sounds like you've already gotten a handle on the basics of  
building and deploying lzx apps; the path to mastery lies in the  
developer guide, the archived mailing lists, the forums, and the  
source itself.
