[Laszlo-dev] try/catch around functions committed - start the build.

Mamye, the fix for the try/catch block is committed.   r11902

Amy, the compile option (used with lzc) that they need to use is:
   -DcatchFunctionExceptions=true

The way it got implemented, I think there is less concern about  
performance,
but we'd still like to know what they think.
