I think in 99.99% of the cases, this is an oversight on the  
developer's part.  We have had any number of bug reports complaining  
about 'write-only' attributes.  You should feel free to fix them when  
you come across them.  If you find an example of a write-only  
attribute that is actually useful, I'd be interested to know about it!
