[Laszlo-dev] ruby and builds

Hello all -
For building/maintaining the doc navigation bar, I inherited a ruby
script,
and wrote another one. Since the nav bar info can get out of date, I
was going to
integrate these steps into the build. But I noticed that they would be
the first instance of ruby in the build (I think).
Is adding ruby as a requirement a needless complication? Or is
rewriting the scripts
in shell/sed even more needless? I notice the
SubversionBuildInstructions wiki
at least suggests getting ruby when installing cygwin on Windows,
but there's nothing explicit elsewhere about the version we need, etc.
This would only show up when building doc.
The scripts are not too long, and if it's more appropriate I'd write
them
in shell/sed (or perl, but kind of the same issue there).
If you want to know more about why the nav bar gets out of
date, see my comments in http://www.openlaszlo.org/jira/browse/
LPP-5698 .
Thanks for any feedback.
