See, Ben,

I'm a writer(0), Jim, not a bricklayer. (1)  I have always relied on  
editors and the kindness of strangers to handle such things, or else  
I've made a hash of it.

("Hash" in the English word sense, not "hash" in the SCIP sense.)

It's not that I'm lazy; it's just that I'm scatterbrained.

So thanks, Ben, for your care and attention. I appreciate your taking  
the time and regard for detail to normalize my file names. I was  
actually wondering about that but was too (____________) to research  
the proper style.  Thanks again.

0. Speaking of being a writer, I just discovered that four of the 32  
articles on Salon's "best of 2003"  list were written by me.
