It looks like a bug in tabslider - in DHTML the text shouldn't be 
truncated.  Please file.

The difference is color is due to tinting which only works for 
background/selection colors in DHTML.  I agree with David, perhaps 
tinting should be deemphasized for the demo.

Also, PNG or GIF images better for PC users.
