I checked in my change, which definitely fixes the leak in swf, and  
which I believe also fixes the leak in dhtml.  We can do some more  
testing in dhtml and tweak if necessary.

I am working on trying to get the leak-detection tools working in  
dhtml, which should help us verify that it is working.  (I think Max  
had a tool that he could run in IE to do leak detection, but I don't  
know how to do that.  If anyone else knows of a general AJAX leak  
detector, perhaps we could use that.)
