continues to grow. This latest installment of Laszlo DevNews highlights
some of the action.

Renaissance Learning, and Pandora. They join the list of OpenLaszlo
early adopters such as Earthlink, Yahoo, Behr, Ziff-Davis and others in
a commitment to advance the Web experience. Stay tuned in the months
ahead as more OpenLaszlo-based efforts go live.

LASZLO AT OSCON 2005
Laszlo Systems CTO David Temkin presented at O'Reilly OSCON 2005 in
Portland, Oregon on August 4, 2005. His well-received session covered
key learnings Laszlo Systems has accumulated since embarking on an open
source strategy. The session outline can be viewed at:

IT CONVERSATIONS PODCAST
During OSCON 2005, veteran technology journalist Scott Mace interviewed
Laszlo Systems CTO David Temkin, and the results are now available as an
MP3 podcast at:
http://www.itconversations.com/series/openingmove.html
http://www.itconversations.com/shows/detail703.html

Scott pitches his podcast interview thus: "Before AJAX (Asynchronous
JavaScript and XML) had a name, there was Laszlo Systems, a software
tools developer using AJAX-like methods along with with Macromedia's
Flash Player to deliver richer Web experiences. In this conversation
with Laszlo founder/CTO David Temkin, learn why he chose the Flash
Player as a platform and why Laszlo went open source choosing IBM's
Common Public License. What is planned for Laszlo Mail and Laszlo
Calendar and how he plans to leverage rich client environments other
than Flash Player."

PANDORA LAUNCHES MUSIC DISCOVERY SERVICE POWERED BY OPENLASZLO Pandora
is a recently launched music discovery service that is making waves
among the digerati. Robert Scoble of Microsoft saw a preview August 20th
at BARCAMP and reported, "Pandora... is simply the coolest thing outside
of Microsoft that I've seen in a long time. It helps you find new music.
Tom Conrad, you have a winner on your hands. Congrats."

Tom Conrad, Pandora's CTO, testifies, "Our just-now-launched music
discovery service, Pandora, is an OpenLaszlo application. It wouldn't be
fair to finish up our launch without a tip of the hat to the amazing
Laszlo team and open source community. Eight months ago when we sat down
to figure out how we were going to deliver a compelling zero-install
discovery and listening experience across Windows, Mac, and Linux in
record time we considered everything you can imagine: plain old HTML,
AJAX, Flex, OpenLaszlo to name just a few. In the end, Laszlo was the
clear winner on all fronts. Mature, reliable, and the perfect tool for
the job. This outcome was only remarkable in that the decision was made
by some of the most capable AJAX developers on the planet. I'll have
more to say about Laszlo in another post, but for now I just want to
publicly say thanks to the great team at Laszlo. Pandora wouldn't be
Pandora without you."
