There was a nice-looking charting and graphing example created this summer by Josh Crowley and Bret Simister; it should probably be included in the distribution in examples/charts.
Note this is different from LPP-3155, which was about c&g tests, not c&g examples.

are there any other test files for the charting Components?
In former versions there has been a test directory with some files ... they seem to be removed.
